Does contemporary recognition theory rest on a mistake?

My aim in this paper is to argue, contra Axel Honneth, that ‘the summons’ ( Aufforderung), the central pillar of Fichte’s transcendentalist account recognition, best made sense not as an ‘invitation’, but rather a second-personal demand, whose illocutionary content draws attention demandingness responsibilities towards vulnerable agents. Because this, summons has good explanatory force terms disclosing phenomenological dynamics psychosocially and politically significant reactive attitudes. Under my reading, then, position, Honneth’s ‘negative’ treatment it, anything empty formalism ‘fails refer subjects flesh blood’.
